    Privacy Policy

    Last updated: August 4, 2026

Willow is designed to be a gentle, private space for daily grounding. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it simple and human, because trust grows slowly, like roots.

This page is a starter template and does not constitute legal advice. Please review it with a qualified attorney before relying on it for compliance.

    1. Information we collect

When you use Willow, we may collect:

    • Account information: email address, name if you provide it during sign-in, and authentication tokens that let you stay signed in.
    • Wellness content you create: mood check-ins, optional written reflections, grounding practices you complete, reminder preferences, and timestamps like checked_in_at and completed_at.
    • Subscription information: whether you have Willow Premium, your subscription tier and renewal date, stored in our Subscriber records. We do not store full payment card numbers.
    • Usage information: basic technical details such as device type, browser, and approximate region, to keep Willow stable and secure.

    2. How we use your information

    We use your information to:

    • Provide your daily check-in, suggested grounding practice, personal progress view, and gentle reminders.
    • Keep your history private to your account and carry it across devices when you sign in.
    • Process and manage Willow Premium subscriptions and give you access to premium practices.
    • Improve Willow, fix issues, and understand which parts of the app feel most supportive in aggregate.
    • Communicate with you about your account, subscription status, or important changes to Willow.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your reflections or moods to show you ads.

    3. How your data is stored

Willow stores check-ins, practice logs, and reminder settings in a secure database tied to your user account. Local copies of onboarding status, reminder preferences, and dismissed nudges may be kept in your browser storage (localStorage and sessionStorage) to make the app feel quick and gentle, even offline. When you sign in, those preferences sync to your account where possible.

    4. Third-party services

Willow relies on a small number of trusted providers to run:

    • Stripe: processes payments for Willow Premium. When you subscribe, you are redirected to Stripe Checkout. Stripe collects and handles your payment details under Stripe's own privacy policy. We receive only confirmation that payment succeeded, your subscription tier, and billing period.
    • Authentication and database hosting: account authentication, secure data storage, and file storage are provided by our backend platform provider. Access is restricted and encrypted in transit.
    • Email and notifications: if enabled, browser notifications are delivered locally by your device. We do not send marketing emails without your consent.

We choose vendors who maintain strong security practices and we share only what is needed for them to perform their service.

    5. Cookies and similar technologies

Willow uses essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, remember that you completed onboarding, and preserve your reminder times. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies. Your browser notification preference is stored so we do not ask repeatedly.

    6. Data retention

We keep your check-ins and practice logs for as long as your account exists, so your progress view can show meaningful patterns over time. You can delete your account at any time by contacting us. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal wellness data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain records for legal, tax, or subscription accounting purposes, such as Stripe-required billing records.

    7. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

    • Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
    • Correct inaccurate information.
    • Delete your check-ins, reflections, or entire account.
    • Object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
    • Export your data in a portable format.

To exercise these rights, email us at the address below. We will respond within a reasonable time frame. Reminder settings and local storage can be cleared directly in your browser.

    8. Children's privacy

Willow is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

    9. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and authentication checks before serving private data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep Willow as safe as a quiet room.

    10. International transfers

Willow may be hosted in countries other than your own. By using Willow, you understand your information may be processed in a different country that may have different data protection laws.

    11. Changes to this policy

If we change this Privacy Policy, we will update the Last updated date and, for material changes, provide notice in Willow or via your account email. Your continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
